AGRO’s National Center for Grapevine & Fruit Tree Planting Material Propagation, a non -entrepreneurial (non- commercial) legal entity was set up in order to fulfill its main mission –establishment in Georgia of an advanced specialized base nursery equipped with the state of the art hi- tech, where the basic certified grapevine and fruit tree crops and planting materials would be propagated in accordance with the quality control standards.

Grapevine and fruit tree crops planting and grafting materials produced at the base nurseries would pave way for the creation & development of new nurseries in the viticulture and horticulture regions of Georgia and production of high quality, competitive agricultural products.

The diverse show-case plots located in the Center are also important to a wide range scientific research.

BACKGROUND

AGRO’s National Center for Grapevine & Fruit Tree Planting Material Propagation, a non -entrepreneurial (non-commercial) legal entity was established in 2007. “CARTU”, the international charity foundation provided financial support thereto. The Center located on 54 ha area in the village of Jighaura, Mtskheta municipality, includes grapevine and fruit tree crop development sectors.

TEAM

AGRO’s National National Center for Grapevine & Fruit Tree Planting Material Propagation is manned with a highly-skilled scientific and technical staff, the local and foreign consultants, engaged in the propagation, conservation and search for grapevine and fruit tree endemic species; they select new species and clones of rootstocks and scions; put into practice the latest processes of cultivation & treatment of mother plant blocks and, also, monitor the phytosanitary conditions of the plants.
